Brendan Cheever,

owner of Cheever Industries

(www.cheeverind.com), received a frantic call from an "irate? woman in Massachusetts. She wanted to know why they had charged her for computer parts she never ordered, or for that matter, never received. Brendan desperately tried to fi gure out her order. Nothing had been shipped to Massachusetts or ordered from her address. Brendan then checked his recent credit card transactions. He had an exact match of date and dollar amount for an order shipping to Singapore a few days earlier. Brendan couldn't believe it. He had just become a victim of credit card fraud. Brendan tried to cancel the shipment, but he was too late. It was already en route to Singapore and could not be rerouted. Categorizing it as a lost cause, he turned his attention to the woman. It was obvious she had not ordered the parts; Brendan was wondering if she had ever even used a computer. Brendan did the "right thing? and returned her money. He tried to recover his loss by contacting the credit card company. They suggested that he contact the local police. Brendan put down the phone and wondered, "What are the local police going to do about criminals all the way in Singapore?? Shaking his head, he tried to fi gure out where he had gone wrong. Cheever Industries has been a PowerSource Online merchant for fi ve years and currently has ten employees. They are a small business located in Ashland, Massachusetts, that resells computer parts and provides services for large brands. Brendan has recently started promoting his website through online marketing tactics. He has placed ads
