I ask dancing fans less than halfway through the Eagles headlining show at the 2008 Stagecoach Country Music Festival held here annually. The Eagles, a Los Angeles band from the 1970s, known for their laid back style of rock, were better then I ever imagined they could be. Joe Walsh, Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Timothy B. "This is the best concert I've ever seen,? said Glenn Miller, a fifty-ish fan from San Diego. "I've seen a lot of concerts and this one was great,? Miller said, along with just about everyone immediately after the 2-hour show Yes, the Eagles of 2008, really are that good. They were simply, out-a-sight! But what I want to know is: How do (so-called) aging rockers sound better then before and still look great? None of that aging rocker from these guys, you know, the type of old rocker who's gotten fat, has incredibly deep lines in their face, and unable to hit those high notes. No, none of that from the Eagles! No, instead the incredibly polished Walsh, the energetic Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Timothy B. Schmidt proved that whatever juices they had in the 70s, they still have that same juice flowing today. Fans attending this three-day festival are treated to the country sounds from 60 artists. Henley, the Eagles singer and drummer said the all-star lineup encouraged the band to make its debut in country western music at the Stagecoach festival. They opened their headline show at 9:35 p.m. with " Busy Being Famous,? followed by "Ho- tel California,? and "Peaceful Easy Feeling.? Timothy B. Schmit voice reportedly cracked when he did his sound check earlier in the day but he hit those high notes just fine in "I Can't Tell You Why.? The Eagles skillfully played: "One of These Nights;? "Ly'in Eyes;? "Boys of Summer;? "In The City;? and "The Long Run.? All these songs and more were played by 10:37 p.m. Frey introduced the band saying Al was missing on the horn. My husband said, "There are 12 guys in the band...and their missing one?? They played nearly all their hits. My personal favorite was, "Dirty Laundry.? The Eagles produced five Number 1 single hits, and six Number 1 albums making them one of the most successful bands of the 1970s. The band broke up in 1980, but reunited in 1994 for the Hell Freezes Over album. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Last year, they release their first full studio album in 28 years, "Long Road Out of Eden.? The Eagles 2008 tour includes Atlanta, GA; Charlottsville, VA; Newark, N.J.; and New York City.
