Fatal Traffic Accident Leaves One Dead

BY VICKI LAWSON DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA- One man is dead and two women are injured Saturday morning after an accident that had taken place on Highway 62 north of Pierson Boulevard in Desert Hot Springs. The incident took place sometime before 2:50 a.m. Saturday, when officers from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department responded to a call involving two vehicles. It appears that one of the drivers was driving southbound on the northbound lanes of Highway 62. Two female adults were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained from the traffic collision. They were treated for minor injuries and then released. One male adult died at the scene as a result of his injuries from the traffic collision. The investigation is continuing and it is believed that alcohol played a role in this accident.

Man Arrested For Violat? ing Restraining Order

BY VICKI LAWSON A Palm Springs man is behind bars for violating a domestic violence restraining order. On Friday, June 20, 2008 at about 11:10 a.m., deputies from the Indio Sheriff's Station responded to the 79-500 block of Country Club Drive in the unincorporated area of Bermuda Dunes They attempted to contact the suspect, later identified as Jose Rolando Segura, 32 years of Palm Springs. Segura evaded deputies, leaving the location in a vehicle. Segura abandoned the vehicle near the Bermuda Dunes Airport and fled on foot. The investigation revealed that the vehicle Segura was driving was reported stolen out of Palm Springs two days ago. Deputies set a perim- eter and did an extensive search, but were unable to locate Segura. Information led police to Segura's residence in the city of Palm Springs. The police of that city contacted Segura at his residence and he was arrested without incident. Segura was booked at the Indio Jail for Possession of Stolen Property, Committing a Felony While on Bail, and for three counts of Domestic Violence-Restraining Order Violation.
