A VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS
WAKEY! WAKEY!
BY RICHARD SPENDIFF It has finally come, the situation we have all denied would never happen, we are running out of oil. This is a wake up call folks. Wake up to the fact that oil is going to be least $10.00 a gallon or more in the next two years and life as we know it will never be the same. It has all ready started;- the Dollar is now at an all time low. The stock market is starting to crumble. The automaker's shares are plummeting. Who wants to buy shares in a company who makes cars and trucks that are going to become future dinosaurs? There are patents out there on various types of engines that can be driven on alternate fuels but in the nineteen fifties the automakers in conjunction with the oil companies bought up all these patents. Because they wanted us all to use the cheap oil that was going to last forever. We went to the moon forty years ago on sixties technology and yet they are telling us; with the vast amount of technology at our fingertips that there is not an alternative right now? Pull the other leg. From now on oil should not be burnt it is far too valuable. Where do most of our chemicals, fertilizers, plastics, lubricants, synthetic rubbers and man made fabrics come from? -OIL. On top of all this we are becoming a third rate industrial power thanks to outsourcing our livelihoods to China, Taiwan and India. We all know this is happening and yet we accept it -why? We live in a fool's paradise, thinking that this country is immune to destruction. We have never been in dept as bad as this before. We owe BILLIONS to all these other countries that we buy all our stuff from instead of making it ourselves. Credit card debt is at the highest ever so we can buy these imports. We have to stop. What can we do? When the Government has to borrow money from China to give us back a tax rebate to desperately try to stimulate our wailing economy, something is wrong-terribly wrong. Rape Case Solved After Two Years Of Investigating
BY VICKI LAWSON PALM SPRINGS, CA- A man is behind bars after a two-year-long rape investigation by the Palm Springs Police Department. On July 3, 2006, a 74-year-old woman reported that she had been raped at Sunrise Park. The case was assigned to detectives, but they had few leads to go on. Biological evidence was submitted for DNA analysis and a suspect was identified. On May 29, 2008, Palm Springs Detective Rhonda Long picked up the two-year-old case again and discovered that her suspect had applied for an ID card in North Carolina. With some follow-up investigation and a few phone calls, Detective Long was able to find a current address for the suspect in Greene County, North Carolina. Detectives flew back to North Carolina, arrested the suspect, and transported him back to California to face charges. The suspect was identified as 47-year-old James Pitts. At a preliminary hearing this week at Riverside County Court in Indio, Pitts was held to answer on charges of Rape and Kidnapping. The kidnapping charge was alleged because the suspect dragged the victim from a bench where she was sleeping to an isolated area, where the crime was committed. Pitts is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail at the Indio Jail.
