Mutilated Cat Found In La Quinta For The Third Time
BY VICKI LAWSON LA QUINTA, CA- For the third time within the past thirty days, residents of a North La Quinta neighborhood are in shock to find a mutilated cat, within a mile radius. The latest incident took place last Wednesday at a home in the 44-400 block of Foxtail Circle. The first two mysterious cat slayings were discovered sometime in late May, where one of the cats' stomach was slit wide open. This third case was very similar to the second, as Assistant Police Chief Raymond Gregory explains. "We get a half dozen animal cruelty calls per month, but we never got one where the animal was killed,? he said. "In these cases, this cut was intentional.? The first cat slaying was discovered where the cat had been shot with a low-caliber gun. Further in detail, Gregory explained how this cat's insides were pulled inside out. Unfortunately, the police have no leads as to who is responsible for these cat killings. The first reported case took place at the 78-700 block of Orion Way, the second took place at the 79-200 block of Desert Stream Drive, all located north of Highway 111 in La Quinta. "If you see something, be aware. Keep track of your pets,? Gregory concluded. Anybody with any information or leads may contact the La Quinta Police Department at (760) 863-8990.
