Julie Bornstein Kicks Off Campaign For 45Th Congressional District

, CA- With optimism, Democrat Julie Bornstein of Palm Desert kicks off her campaign at the Indio Performing Arts Center on Saturday with a large number of supporters behind her. Amongst her supporters are former candidates Paul Clay and David Hunsicker, who were both running for the 45th Congressional District seat against Bornstein during the June primaries. Both have now pledged to support her defeat Republican Mary Bono Mack this coming November. "It was one very interesting campaign,? said Clay. "We were able to discuss our ideas in front of big crowds and it made us all better candidates. Julie is our winner and she earned it. What we are here for is the goal to unseat Mary Bono Mack once and for all.? Hunsicker added, "I am so honored to become a part of Julie's campaign. She's very bright, very articulate and she listens. She is also a family person.? Also making an appearance was Bornstein's son, Brian Gordon, who just came home from a tour of duty in Iraq. "My mom has instilled some values in both my brother and I, for she is the most honest person I've ever known,? he said. "She always had a commitment to public service.? The lady herself then came up to speak about the current issues that are plaguing the community and the nation in general. "You've got $100 fill ups at the gas station, and you've got grocery prices going up week after week. You've got un- employment going up too,? she spoke. Bornstein also vows to work for families who are struggling to keep their homes and also to find ways to reduce the national deficit. She adds, "Unemployment in Riverside County is over 7 percent. People want change. After eight years of George Bush and Mary Bono Mack, change is needed.?
