The Last Day Of Stagecoach Kicks Off By Kicking Ass
By LESLIE ANDREWS INDIO, CA- It was a day of excitement and fine music all day Sunday during the closing of the Stagecoach Music Festival 2008 as the greatest of today's country music acts came together to perform killer shows. Plus, the weather was nice and rather breezy outside during the whole day. The closing of the threeday festival kicked off from the Mane Stage with Country music duo Halfway To Hazard, singing an hours' worth of hits and covers. Chad Warrix and David Tolliver sang "Daisy?, "Devil and the Cross? and even did a brief cover of Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion?. Following that came Chuck Wicks, a young country star who appeared in the short lived Fox show, "Nashville?. He performed his hit single, "Stealing Cinderella? as well as a few covers, including Joe Diffie's "Pick Up Man?. Trace Adkins came next, singing many of his classics, including "you're Going To Miss This? and "Dangerous Man?. Plus, he got the audience wowed up with "One Hot Mama?. After his act, one of his guitars was auctioned off for $18,000. All guitar auctions were to benefit local charities for youth, plus winners would get all-access passes for Stagecoach 2009. Gretchen Wilson followed, stealing the show with a little rock and roll, playing a cover of Heart's "Barracuda?. Plus, she sang her own material, which included "Homewrecker?, "Redneck Woman? and "Here For The Party?. Before Big and Rich came onstage, fans were treated to a surprise visit from Cowboy Troy. Then, B&R appeared, playing "Big Time?, "Eighth of November? and a honky-tonk cover of AC/DC's "you Shook Me All Night Long?. 17 Of course, they could not go on without singing their signature tune, "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy?. And also, they smashed a guitar at the end. Carrie underwood graced the stage soon afterward. This former American Idol winner sang many of her hits like "Jesus Take The Wheel? and "All American Girl?. Fans were stunned with Carrie covering Guns N Roses' "Paradise City?. Then, she sang her biggest selling hit, "Before He Cheats?. Finally, Tim McGraw took the stage to rock the crowd. He sang a number of songs, with his band, The Dancehall Doctors, which include "Fly Away?, "Where The Green Grass Grows?, plus a few new tunes. Fans from all over California and beyond came to attend this show. Robin Nemire of Calimesa came here with her husband and her son. "It's wonderful so far,? she said. "It's my son Brandon who loves country. His favorite group was Rascal Flatts.? Though they live relatively close to the Coachella Valley, the Nemires chose to camp here at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio. Ron and Janet Clark of Diamond Bar were also amongst the many campers who came just for this event. "It's a very interesting experience,? said Ron. "There must be about twenty or thirty thousand people here.? His favorite acts were Luke Bryan and The Judds, who appeared on Saturday. Reports say that there was fewer troublemakers and fewer arrests at Stagecoach as opposed to the Coachella Music and Arts Festival, which took place the previous weekend.
